So I am totally lacking motivation went off my whole 30 at the end of last week and I have eaten terrible since. . .thai food, pizza, popcorn. . .I need some motivation or positive thoughts sent my way to keep it up through the summer months, it should be easier these months but I lost my groove.
I did however meet my goal of losing 10 lbs by memorial day I got down to 214.0 lbs!!! Now I bounce between 214.0 and 218.0 and that's pretty average for me to bounce between 5 lbs but I want to lose another 10 lbs before July 7th and I just don't have it in me right now for some reason. The heat does not help, with running or with cooking. . .no A/C kinda ruins my meal plans, but we are trying a lot of grilling recipes to make up for my lack of cooking in the kitchen.
So besides losing those 10 lbs I hit another big goal of mine. I have been running at 12:30 min mile for the last several years since Owen was born. But I knew I was stronger and lighter and that I could run faster so I started pushing myself and watching my speed on my Nike+ my fastest mile to date is 10:20 min mile!!!!! I knocked 2 min off my time. Now I have only been running one mile at a time lately mostly because I have been running in the heat of the day but I think I could keep that pace up for a 5k.
I recently found out that I will be unemployed as of the first week of July. . .can I just say I am sooooo excited! More time to work out more time to sleep more time to play with Owen! I work nights and it is literally killing me. My hope is with a normal sleep schedule and regular day time schedule my body will finally regulate it's self and I can have a normal routine to stick with and the weight will just melt off!! I know I'll still have to work my butt off but maybe I'll see the results a little faster. . .that is my hope anyways.
So I guess I should post more often since so much has happened since my last post. Maybe with my new schedule I will become a better blogger.

Bruised but not broken
It was a rough week of workouts. . .I only made it to 3 this week but they were tough. After doing some crazy lifting on Monday I am bruised from my crotch to my knees. . .I've never had a bruise in one particular location before and it is a little awkward, last week I almost set up an annual check up with my gynecologist. . .good thing I didn't. . .she would have for sure thought I was being beaten!
I got over my bruises and made it back to the gym on Tuesday for some more lifting, double unders and toes to bar. . .that was a killer WOD my arms felt like they would fall off when I was done. But it feels so good to sweat and I really do love lifting especially now that I feel like I know what I'm doing and know how much weight I can handle.
I got lazy toward the end of the week and it didn't help that the workouts didn't sound like a whole lot of fun. Pretty much anything that involves squats I'm not a huge fan of. My knees kinda hate me especially when doing squats so I kinda avoid those WOD's when I can. I know I'm a wuss.
I have been doing a lot of Paleo baking. . .unfortunately I'm at work and forgot my cook books to type of the recipes but keep reading I'll get them up on the blog eventually. Work has been slow I only blog at work and I haven't worked for a week, so I guess I'll have to start blogging during Owen's nap, when/if he naps.
Delicious Paleo treats I've made, I'll get the recipes or links up soon!:
Key Lime Pie
Apple Cupcakes
Waffles
Carrot Cupcakes
I was going to make paleo sugar cookies but I lacked several expensive ingredients so we made the real thing and I ate one and sent the rest to work with Adam.
I've been doing pretty good with my meals I'm still 100% paleo except for my 2 cheats a week. I try to Zone as best I can but the Zone part is hard and takes more time and thought.
I have noticed that I've been super moody lately but that my moody days are always the day after a cheat meal. . .the cheat meals I don't think are really even worth it if not only my body feels crappy but my emotions are all messed up too!
I am strong both body and mind and I'm better when I stick to what I know my body needs instead of giving in to what I think I want! I haven't been perfect in this challenge but I have come so far and I'm doing and feeling so much better than ever before!

NEW CHALLENGES!!
I have not given up in fact it's quite the opposite. After spending Christmas with family and eating pretty much everything I try to avoid I came back feeling like poop. But I did have a few huge accomplishments while I was gone. I attended two WOD's at two different gyms on vacation in the middle of winter. . .I normally don't workout when I'm visiting family but I did it. I got up early and I went on my own and I realized even more than I had before that my gym "Crossfit Verve" is pretty much the best gym in the world! I didn't get any instruction at either gym I attended, the people were nice enough but my expectations were way too high.
Anyways I got back from visiting the family and immediately started a whole30. It felt great to be eating healthy again and I never wanted to cheat or go back to the junk I was eating before. I completely my whole30 with a final weigh in and body fat dunk test. . .and before completing my whole30 I started a 6 week challenge, I'm doing it on my own but Crossfit verve is doing a big competition of it all. I am trying to add Zone to my paleo eating and it is hard to measure every single meal and add protein, veggies and fat every time I put something in my mouth. But regardless of how I do I write everything down! I've made it to at least 4 workouts including yoga since I started and hoping to just keep adding to it.
Challenge starting stats Jan 25th, 2013:
227.0 lbs
My body fat dunk test was better than I had expected even though I was only down 5 lbs from September I lost 10 lbs of body fat and gained 5 lbs of lean muscle mass. Also I dropped 4% body fat!!!
Starting Measurements:
Bust: 39
waist: 35
hips: 49
Arms: 16
Legs: 28
I still have a long ways to go but it's good to know I'm making progress. . .hopefully this challenge will get me over this plateau and get me to my pre-pregnancy weight just over 10 lbs away from that.
I told my husband his has to start eating 2 paleo meals a day and has to cut out soda completely so far so go, he hasn't been perfect but he fits into his jeans that had gotten too tight so it's a start. It makes it easier too when I don't have to make him something different to eat! Being the awesome wife that I am I have found some awesome recipes that helps him get through the day while feeling like he gets an extra treat, a paleo treat!
One of our favorites has been
Paleo Chocolate Pudding
1 Can full fat coconut milk
1 cup dates
a few drops of vanilla
4-5 Tb. cocoa powder
blend the dates and some of the coconut milk in a food processor, then strain the small date pieces to get a better "pudding" texture. add the remainder of the coconut milk and other ingredients in the food processor and mix through. place in fridge until thickens. ( A couple ours) it tastes good immediately too if you just can't wait. Here is the link for the original recipe. My husband loved mixing some fresh berries in with it. ENJOY!!

It's a miracle!!
I talked Adam into joining me at the Free Cross Fit intro class on Saturday. . .I failed to get photos. . .which is a shame since I don't know if I'll ever see him there again
He liked it. I had to join him which means our little monster came too, I was able to get the workout in, which by the way was workout #5 for me last week, that's a record.
Adam complained about his back hurting all weekend and claimed that I broke him, I just told him he needs to move more.
I on the other hand wasn't even sore from the workout and I did the intro workout 4 minutes faster than the first time I did it and that included chasing Owen around between my reps.
Not bad. . .now I need to convince Adam to join forever. . .he'll start working again next month so we are trying to figure out a schedule that would allow him to make it there several times a week without taking away from my workout time. . .I'll keep you posted.
On a different note.
Last week I completed my whole30 of strict paleo. . .I kinda went nuts last week with eating junk and I felt it! I decided this morning when I wasn't feeling well enough for a 6:30 am WOD that I HAVE to go back to strict paleo. I am playing with the idea of allowing myself free meals on the weekends but I haven't decided if I have enough self control yet. But today I stuck to my paleo eating and already feel 70% better. . .not quite back to that 100% but I'll keep it up this week!

FIRST WORKOUT AS A 30 YEAR OLD
I have my 30th birthday over the weekend!! WAHOO! Bring it on!!! We had some friends over to watch a back yard movie on our huge projection screen and ate a bunch of paleo friendly food. . .yum yum! I even got a mango with a candle in it. . .picture coming soon.
It had been awhile since I made it to the MOM's workout class so I packed up my small monster and we headed on over there this morning. . .
21-18-15-12-9-6-3
Back squat 22 lbskettle bell dead lift 16kg
16:23 min.
It was hard work today especially when Owen (my small 2 year old monster) tried to sit on the box I was squating on and I almost sat on him and almost dropped my bar bell on him. . .then when we were doing some ab workout after wards he though it would be fun to jump on my belly as I was doing hallow holds. . .not fun at all. Oh the joys of working out with a 2 year old. All the other moms had tiny babies sleeping away in their car seats while my son tried to shove goldfish crackers in the babies mouths and throw balls at their heads. . .soon their children will be monsters like mine!!

SICKNESS and UPDATES
I have not given up on Cross fit of blogging, the past couple weeks have been filled with craziness of working, cross fitting and getting sick. This week I have not be able to get my Cross fit on and I feel flabby and lazy and like my head is going to explode because of a stupid head cold. I feel like I'll never get better since I haven't been able to take any nights off work so my body has had not time to recover. My relay is in 2 weeks and this week I haven't made it out of the house to run once. . .so lazy and sad.
Last week I was able to make it to 3 Classes and do a hill/interval run and increased my running speed by a whole 30 seconds!!!
August 13th
MOM's workout
200 meter row
20 front squats w/ 10 lb dumb bells
200 meter row
20 presses w 10 lb dumb bells
4 times. I don't remember my time but I think it was something like 21:53 minutes but I had to save my child a few times from killing himself and others. It was a great work out and I was really sore afterwards
August 14th
RJ Hero workout
I LOVED THIS WORKOUT! CAN"T WAIT UNTIL I CAN DO IT FOR REALS
800 meter run
5 rope climbs
50 push ups
5 rotations or 40 minutes
My modifications for this workout:
800 meter run
10 sit to stand rope pulls (I have zero upper body strength and used my legs A LOT)
30 push ups on knees agains bench
4 rotations in 36:19 minutes
I was amazed to watch everyone climb those ropes and can't wait till I can join them. This workout made me literally drip pools of sweat, I loved every second of it. It also made me feel better that everyone was taking breaks and making modifications to the workout by the end just to finish, it was hardcore!
August 15th
100 meters hand stand walk. . .ha ha ha I can't even do a hand stand unless I'm in a pool!
Modification
Team of 3
3 minutes wall walks
3 minutes wall stand
4 minute hand stand walk
All this between the 3 team mates, so we each did a minute of each basically. My team was awesome and they split the hand stand walk and I did some modifications. I stood on a box instead of on my hands against the wall since my weak arms cannot support my fat a$$ yet. . .soon, very very soon I will be able to do it. But those people walking on their hands for 100 meters, they are tough and their faces were bright red when they were done, it took them awhile to finish having to take lots of breaks but they did it!!
I really enjoyed my class that day, it was smaller than usual since the day before was such a killer workout and there was a little bit of everyone there, trainers, newbies like myself and everyone was so helpful and patient with me learning and doing the modifications.
I thought I would be intimidated in my classes but nobody is judging everyone is just happy to be there and happy I'm there doing it too, at least they make me feel that way!

30 Days of Paleo
Being the hardcore Cross Fit athlete that I am I've decided to try the Paleo diet, the diet by which most Cross Fit athletes follow. This did take a little encouragement from my good friends Molly and Jason Reynolds that got me addicted to Cross Fit in the first place.
Starting September 4th (the day after Labor day) we're going 30 days of Paleo. When I say "we" I mean Molly, Jason and you (anyone that wants to join us.) My husband will not be joining us, he loves grains, dairy and sugar all too much to give it up even for one day. . .wuss!
Here are some great links for recipes and more information on the Paleo diet.
Paleo Table
Every Day Paleo
Health Bent
So who's with me? Any takers? It's going to be awesome we'll all feel great, clean our bodies out and hopefully lose a few pounds in the process!!

MOM'S CLASS
It was a busy day today:

5:45 4 mile run around Sloan's Lake
9:00 Crossfit Mom's
6 up down planks
9 thrusters
12 lunges
(for 3 minutes then 2 min break. . .4 times)
I rocked it and got more and more done each time, when I wasn't chasing Owen around. I still don't quite have the coordination down for any of the lifts but it's getting better!

Owen was very cute and tried to do all the exercises and stretches with us. . .this is him at the end. . .this picture pretty much describes how we all felt when we finished that last set.
12:00 Mountain run, for altitude training at 10,000+ feet. Another post on that soon!

NO EXCUSES!
people even help me justify my excuses. . .
"you just had a baby"
"you work nights"
"you don't have a car during the day"
"you're tired you need your sleep"
"It will be easier when I'm thinner"
"It's too hot outside"
"My ipod is dead"
When it really comes down to it, there is always something else I could be doing, there is never enough time, I do feel guilty for leaving my son and husband to go workout after I have been gone all night at work and sleeping all day, but I have to do it. It will never be easier, it will never be convenient but I've come to the point that it is just something that I have to do and I have to make time for it. My house might be a little messier and I might not always make a gourmet meal but I have made my health a priority, it has been neglected too long.
On the Fourth of July I ran the Liberty run at Washington Park in Denver. It was a 4 mile run around the park. Nothing fancy, since I usually run 3 miles or more 3-5 times a week, just something to get me up and running on a holiday. I did my best, but I'm always scared of running to fast to start and then burning out before I finish so I ran slow but I kept a pretty good steady pace throughout the race. I wanted to stop more than anything when I came around the first loop (about 1.5 miles in) and I was passed by the fastest of the runners that were finishing up their 4th mile, ALREADY!!!! Not only that but I had also been passed by a few speed walkers, nothing like running and being passed by walkers!!!
I DIDN'T STOP RUNNING AND I DIDN'T SLOW DOWN! In fact my last 2 miles were about 30 seconds faster than my first two! I finished that race running every last inch of it! I did it! No excuses, even when being passed by walkers!!

Forced to be Lazy today!
This was supposed to me today!!!!!
Ha Ha. . .soon. . .soon!
But this is my reality, I wasn't originally on the schedule for Thursday night so I scheduled a 6:00pm Skillz class, a 9:00pm spinning class, planned to go running Friday morning at 5:45 am with a friend and then scheduled a Crossfit moms class for 9:00 am Friday morning. Well patients were scheduled last minute so I had to cancel everything and this is me, sad, fat and flabby not working my way closer to the above picture because I am forced to work! I did bring my workout clothes and I'll be going running by my self in the morning when I get off, maybe I should schedule a Crossfit class too??!!
